  23. Perhaps you're unaware of yet another literate programming tool called
  24. noweb, which is available over the net much the same way as the others you
  25. mention.  It's *very* well suited to Icon - it's what I use for my Icon code
  26. - and interestingly enough, it's partly written *in* Icon.  Having used a
  27. few of the repertory of LP tools, I can say that noweb is by far the
  28. simplest of those I've tried.

  30. This isn't a newsgroup for literate programming, so I won't rant on, but
  31. since I'm on the subject allow me to raise an LP-related issue in Icon
  32. that's nagged at me for a while.  It would be much easier to debug a
  33. literate Icon program if the language had a locution akin to the C #line
  34. preprocessor directive, i.e. a way of identifying from where in which source
  35. file a given chunk of code came.  (Since Icon is so well suited for text
  36. processing, and since code is text, this might also assist in debugging
  37. programs automatically transformed by Icon programs, all literacy aside.)
  38. Does anyone else care about this?
